5 Ways to Attain Total Wellness
What is wellness and what does it look and feel like to you? How does your overall wellness affect your performance in different areas of your life, and how does it aid in allowing you to be the best version of you once attained? Most importantly what are some steps in gaining wellness, mind, body, and spirit.
1. Know your worth
If you could put a price tag on yourself what would be your cost? If you can answer that question with a price, even if it were an astronomical number that no one has ever heard of, please take a minute to reevaluate your answer. Placing a price tag on yourself immediately places limitations on your worth. Our manufacturer took the time to place every intricate detail in the right place. Ensuring our quality and integrity. But how many of us are giving ourselves away for a discounted price? Allowing ourselves to be easily accessible to the average consumer which then causes us to be more susceptible to misuse, damage, and brokenness. It’s time to change the game. You know what we are worth? We are so precious that our value can not be determined, priceless. I like to refer to the infamous verse, God so loved the world He gave His one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life John 3:16. This verse is quoted a lot but do we really realize the power of this verse. Would you be willing to give up your one and only child for the life of another? Most of us would say no. But that’s how much we are worth to God. We are fearfully and wonderfully made (psalm 139:14). Our worth is non negotiable. Know you are valuable and that you create value. Speak life over yourself. Be aware of the internal conversations within you. Start using language that allows you to see yourself as your creator sees you. Our worth all begins with what you believe about you. If it’s not in alignment with the creator, then it’s time to start retraining and re-framing your mind
2. It’s okay to say No!
Ensuring you are walking in wellness requires taking inventory of self. Spreading our selves too thin can take away from our well being which ultimately causes us to be fatigued, overwhelmed and often times taken advantage of. Use your discernment to best determine what is best for you, and if your inventory is running low, a “No” is necessary for you to restock. Take care of yourself to maximize your calling and don't put more on your plate than what you can handle.
3. Cut off loose ends
The people we choose to allow in our circle have a huge impact on our well being. Create relationships that matter and create a community of Spirit lifters and encouragers. Be mindful of what you consume and what consumes you. You can control what and who is allowed in your space. Be aware of People who continuously make withdraws but make no deposit. Ultimately the people we are around plant seeds into your souls so be mindful of this to have an abundant harvest.
4. Seek counsel
Seeking council takes a level of maturity and vulnerability, but if you can humble yourself, it could be extremely beneficial. Proverbs 11:14 says, Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. Whether it be a wise friend, a mentor or a therapist, seeking council can have a huge impact on our well being. Let’s do away with the negative stigma of therapy. It’s important to heal the wounded part on the inside for you to successfully operate in wellness. A sound mind can affect every other area of your life.
5. Work out body and soul
Cut time out of your day even if it’s 10-15 minutes to get a physical work out. Studies show that a physical work out increase our energy, make us happier and smarter. So let’s go get that gym membership (again) and get moving! Read books, attend a course or a conference to gain wisdom and knowledge. Remember that you won’t have what you don't pursue. It may cost you but it will be worth it in the end.
I believe wellness is something that is not just obtained but has to be sustained by taking heed to your internal well, hence the word wellness. Being mindful if its empty or full, and what is needed to replenish it of what it is depleted of and what caused it to get to that state. It takes a level of self awareness and intentionality. Define what wellness means to you then make a conscious decision to go get it. You get what you believe, so once you get the courage to get what you want and what you know is best for your life, you can start your journey to wellness.
Dear friend I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.
